1998 NISH Contractor of the Year

Allied Industries, a division of The Resource Center, was recognized for excellence in producing and delivering insect barriers and tent pins.

The award was presented at the 1998 NISH National Training Conference, by Brigadier General Hawthorne Proctor, Commander of Defense Supply Center, Philadelphia, to Gregory Bender, Director of Business Operations of The Resource Center, Jamestown NY.

Allied Industries (AI) of Jamestown, New York, is the Most Valuable Player and my nominee for work center of the year. AI was awarded a surge contract of cargo bags used to drop humanitarian relief supplies into Bosnia. That $15 million order was the largest supply order ever placed by the Army under the Javits Wagner O'Day (JWOD) program, and AI was able to increase in price. That kind of support is what the Army truly needs during these times of aggressive downsizing. The quality of AI product is outstanding despite the difficult nature of the sewing process involved. The people and management of AI should be commended for their excellent performance.
